Year 1 - Robins

Welcome Robins in Year 1!

Year 1 children are taught by  Miss Holmes  with Mrs Harris and Mrs Barnett as Teaching Partners.

The children have a thorough transition from Reception to Year 1. From Year 1 through to Year 6 the children’s learning follows the National Curriculum. Through the school’s  engaging curriculum, they build on the skills established in Reception and are able to work for increasingly sustained periods of time independently developing the skills they need to be successful and in line with national expectations.

At the end of Year 1 the children will take the statutory Year 1 Phonics test.

This term, our theme is 'Zero to Hero'. It is a history based topic, in which we will be learning about inspirational people in the past and present. Please look at our curriculum newsletter below for more information.

We have been exploring circuits in science.

In RE, we are learning about who Christians and Jews believe made the world. As part of our topic, we are learning this song to perform at our Harvest Festival celebration.
