Year 2 - Blackbirds

Welcome to Blackbirds in Year 2!

 

Year 2 - Blackbirds Class is taught by Mrs Hillier and Mr Wootton with Ms Goddard and Ms Ryland being the Teaching Partners in the class. 

 

Mrs Hillier teaches on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday

Mr Wootton teaches on a Thursday

 

 

Year 2 is an important year for the children as it marks the end of Key Stage 1 before the children move to Year 3 and start Key Stage 2. In the summer term the children will complete the statutory assessments for the end of Key Stage 1. You can find further information on this below.

Weekly Expectations for Blackbirds:

  • Spelling Home learning - this is sent out weekly and should be returned on a Monday.
  • Reading Books - Reading records should be bought to school everyday and we encourage reading at home at least 3 times a week.
  • Bug Club - to improve reading comprehension. We also do this weekly with the children in school as a part of our group reading sessions.

At the end of Year 2 the children are assessed using statutory assessments in reading, writing and maths and teacher assessments are used to make judgements about how well your child is performing in science, speaking and listening. and formal spelling, punctuation and grammar test to assess that they are in line with national expectations.
